Areas of Practice

Unfortunately Pediatric Malpractice can occur at any time. It could involve negligent neonatal care, the mis-diagnosis of cancer, infections, or the failure to diagnose heart disease in children.

However pediatric malpractice cases can be extremely complicated and difficult to handle. Doctors and hospitals may not be forthcoming with information that you need. They may not even properly explain what happened to your child.

I have been involved in the health care field for over 30 years and have seen the devastating effects of pediatric malpractice on families. I understand pediatric diseases including proper treatments and the various standards of care. Each case requires detailed medical knowledge.

My medical background allows me to identify and understand the issues in your case quickly. Having a unique Doctor/Lawyer on your child’s case has many advantages. Please don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and call me at any time.

Medical Malpractice (also known as medical negligence is professional negligence by act or omission by a health care provider in which the treatment provided falls below the accepted standard of practice in the medical community and causes injury or death to the patient, with most cases involving medical error.

Discharge from an Emergency Room without proper diagnosis and treatment can have serious consequences in all age groups. Anesthesia errors still occur with drastic outcomes including cerebral anoxic dysfunction or death. Frequently wrong dosages or wrong medications are given to patients. Fortunately many are harmless. Some however have catastrophic effects especially in newborn and pediatric patients.

Failure to diagnose or treat medical conditions, such as the negligent failure to diagnose or properly treat cancer, the negligent reading of mammograms or x-rays, the mis-diagnosis of cancer, the negligent failure to diagnose or properly treat heart attack or stroke, or the negligent failure to diagnose and properly treat a condition or disease affecting the body may be the basis for a medical malpractice claim. As Hospitals and physician offices change to electronic records, mistakes may occur involving medications and treatments.

Having an attorney with an understanding of your medical records will be helpful. Surgical malpractice includes the negligent performance of an operation, the failure to recognize complications during surgery, wrong organ surgery, leaving instruments or foreign bodies inside the patient, or failure to recognize and properly treat post-operative complications.

Birth injuries may result from negligent pre-natal care, injuries during delivery, failure to perform a Cesarean section, or failure to provide medical care to the newborn baby. Birth injuries from medical malpractice can be catastrophic and permanent, and may result in developmental delays, neurological injuries or death. All too often families of children with devastating outcomes in hospitals do not obtain the right answers.

While nothing can undo the harm that was done to your child, in most cases we can at least find out what happened through a careful examination of medical records and by consulting medical experts. I am a licensed physician/surgeon and attorney involved in the medical care of adults and children for nearly 30 years.

Additionally, I have training in a busy obstetrical program in NYC having a delivery on the average of every 45 minutes. Furthermore, I have been in the operating room performing surgeries on ill babies and children and have an understanding of the proper standard of care required. Having a physician and lawyer involved early in these circumstances clearly has its benefits.

Malpractice only occurs when a doctor or hospital staff members do not follow the accepted standard of care. If your child’s injury was due to obstetric medical malpractice, filing a legal claim can help you obtain the money you will need to take care of your child now and in the future. By holding doctors and hospitals accountable, pursing a malpractice claims can also help prevent similar tragedies from happening to other families.

Car & Truck Accidents In the event of a car or truck accident, it is important to work with an attorney who not only understands your injuries from a medical perspective, but also a legal one. Don’t hesitate to call. You have a limited amount of time to recover financially from a devastating accident. The insurance companies have attorneys working for them full time to make sure you settle for as little money as possible. That’s why you need protection of your rights. Don’t sign anything before speaking with an attorney no matter how much pressure and discouragement you may be getting from the insurance company attorneys.

When a semi-truck driver is negligent or an 18-wheeler’s brakes fail, everyone on the road is in serious danger. On the highway, a rural road or in the city, a truck accident can have catastrophic consequences. In 2007, there were more than 4,862 Injuries in crashes involving Large Trucks and 1,766 Injuries in crashes involving Buses on Pennsylvania roads. Many were serious including 210 deaths.* In an industry that is heavily regulated for safety, that’s too many.

I have extensive training in trauma surgery and understand you or your loved one’s injury. You may have even considered accepting a low settlement offer from the other driver’s insurance company just to make ends meet during this difficult time. One that isn’t sufficient to cover your medical bills, car repair costs, and lost wages that you have suffered because of the accident.
