Marc Gomez and Kerstin Atzler ID’d as Drivers Hospitalized after North Strabane Township Crash on Interstate 79
North Strabane Township, Pennsylvania (September 15, 2018) – The two drivers who were hospitalized last week Thursday afternoon after a three-vehicle crash which left a Canonsburg woman dead in North Strabane Township have been identified as Marc Gomez, 48, of San Antonio, Tx, and Kerstin Atzler, 40, of Washington, according to the Washington state police.
The crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m. September 6, on Interstate 79.
State police said a southbound pickup truck operated by Gomez crossed the median and an SUV operated by Atzler struck the pickup bed. The pickup continued and collided head-on with a sedan driven by Esther Bernice Davis, 59, of Canonsburg.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. Gomez was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital. Atzler was transported to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance. The victims’ conditions were not immediately disclosed.
The drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
The crash remains under investigation.
