Hanover, Pennsylvania (August 9, 2018) – The man who was killed Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle accident in Hanover has been identified as Daniel Gautreau, 59, of Roxbury, police said.

The deadly accident happened on Wednesday, August 8 on Route 2.

According to the police, Gautreau was riding his Harley-Davidson eastbound when he failed to notice that the motorist in front of him had stopped to turn left.

Gautreau’s bike then rear-ended the vehicle driven by Davina Mare, 39, of Hanover. The motorcycle then bounced into oncoming traffic where it was hit by a Toyota, driven by Maria Chadwick, 48, of Wayne, Pennsylvania.

Gautreau was declared deceased at the scene. Mare and Chadwick were not injured.

A stretch of Main Street near the intersection of Route 232 was closed as police investigated the crash.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
